On The Other Side of Sexual Abuse: Monica Zuniga

Monica grew up in small-town Texas and attended college at Dallas Baptist University. After a very difficult and unexpected break-up and a season of trying to numb the pain of rejection, Monica went through a traumatic experience that no one should ever have to go through. This is Monica’s story of being on the other side of sexual abuse.

In this episode, Monica shares about the aftermath of her sexual abuse, believing the lie that it was her fault, which made her keep it a secret for two years. She went through a journey of healing, seeing God as her comforter, and wanting to create a safe space for others. She says “I’m so passionate about who God is and his character because I don’t want people to live in the lie that I was living in.” Monica has overcome so much, and she stands here today with the confidence of Christ as her identity and anchor.
