WHAT YOU WILL HEAR
On April 19th, 1995, Amy Downs walked into work on a normal spring day. She sat down with a coworker, and before she could start a conversation, the bomb went off. There was an intense roaring in her head and the feeling of falling several feet. This is Amy’s story of being On The Other Side of the Oklahoma City Bombing.
Amy Downs was 28-years-old at the time of the event, and her story is heartbreaking, miraculous, and redemptive. She shares about the deep survivor’s guilt she felt, and what it looked like to pick up the pieces of her life. Amy decided that she would never live her life the same way and worked to achieve so many great things, including the Ironman Triathalon. She says “I really can do what I set my mind to as long as I break it down in steps that I actually have control and agency over.” What a beautiful and powerful story of hope. We’re so thankful for Amy sharing her story with us.
